Jacob’s Badge of Good Character

The stories in the book come from our experiences in presenting courses to parents to help keep their children out of high risk behaviour such as drugs, alcohol, sex and bullying. After our workshops, parents often asked for help in teaching their children these very important skills and character traits. The earlier a child learns these invaluable lessons the more empowered they will be.

Although it is a fun book, five very important character traits are interwoven into the story which if well learned, will give the child good guidance in avoiding the dangers facing them in our world today. Good choices (even regarding friends) need to be made from an early age in order to avoid expensive and heart-breaking consequences for parents and children alike, in the years ahead.

Jacob’s Badge of Good Character has been donated to Focus on iThemba as a means of raising funds for their cluster foster care project that is situated in Hillcrest KZN and sells for R50. All proceeds from the sale will go to the Focus on iThemba foster care project.   

We were able to present the first chapter of Jacob's Badge of Good Character to the Grade 4 children of the Mnamatha School on 23 September 2010. The children responded well to the lesson on Courage to say NO to bad behavior- even when afraid.  The teachers were very enthusiastic about the book and after a little training with them are determined to continue the lessons with the children.
